Helping Leaders Deliver Confident, Effective Presentations
A scenario-based learning experience that moves learners beyond presentation theory and into realistic practice.
From Knowing to Doing
Presentation training can easily become a list of best practices—use fewer words, make eye contact, know your audience. But knowing those principles doesn't necessarily prepare someone to make decisions when a real presentation doesn't go as planned.
I wanted this experience to close that gap by moving learners beyond presentation theory and giving them opportunities to practice the decisions effective presenters make.
Design Decisions
-
Practice Over Presentation
Rather than building a content-heavy course about presentation skills, I centered the experience around situations learners might actually encounter. Learners have to decide how to respond, giving them an opportunity to apply presentation principles instead of simply reading about them.
-
Feedback That Teaches
Feedback does more than tell learners whether they chose correctly. It explains why a response is effective or why another approach might work better, so each decision becomes part of the learning experience.
-
Keep the Focus on the Learner
I kept the experience focused on practical decisions rather than trying to cover everything about presenting. This let learners spend more time applying the skills that matter most when preparing and delivering a presentation.
The Solution
I designed a scenario-based eLearning experience that combines focused instruction with opportunities to make decisions, receive feedback, and try again. The structure keeps learners actively involved while connecting presentation principles to situations they may face on the job.
-
Build understanding of effective presentation practices.
-
Apply those ideas to realistic presentation situations.
-
Understand why a decision works and where another approach may be stronger.
-
Carry the thinking into future presentations and meetings.
